Happy New Year Everyone!

2007 wasn't such a great year for many people. Let's hope that 2008 brings:

- a sensible end to the war
- a stop to the push toward world government
- a stop to the ongoing trend of taking away all our hard-won liberties
- less China and their wretched products and dictatorial leaders
- lower taxes for everyone
- less power to out-of-control police and government agencies
- more people who are kinder to each other
- visits with my grandchildren, Ethan and Laura, who are kept from me by their mother

KFed

Just to let you know how irrelevant my life is, it is New Year's Eve and I wasted a full hour watching a special about Britney Spears on the Nancy Grace Show. Luckily, NG wasn't there but home with her twins. There was, however, a full contingent of women past their prime but still with long hair - a fashion faux pas for sure.

We were able to follow through Brit's full year of disastrous behavior with an emphasis, of course, on the fact that she is (at this time at least) an unfit mother who doesn't seem too interested in having her children back or even having visitation with them. She won't take drug/alcohol tests as ordered by the court; she doesn't show up for court hearings with the excuse that she is sick but, not sick enough to stay out of the clubs a few hours later; she won't go to parenting classes.

All the while, the children's father, Kevin Federline is apparently keeping a low profile and looking after his sons. This seems to draw the ire of the women guests on the show who sneer when they mention his name. One stated flatly that he only wanted the children for the money. Nothing was mentioned about women who marry men with money - for the money! I guess that is completely different and certainly acceptable. Another sneered that he probably dumps them on a nanny. I bet that this woman, if she has children, dumps them on a nanny but of course that would be different because she needs to be liberated.

Not one thought of the possibility that he loves his sons and wants them to be safe or that he might be a very good father. These new women seem to think that men should be available only to impregnate them and then to stay out of the way and not bother them. They should, of course, send money.

I don't know Kevin Federline but I know that his former girlfriend seems to like him and thinks he is a nice guy who loves his sons. I also know many men who are fine fathers and who love their children. They change diapers, feed babies, get up in the night as much as the mothers of their children.

It is time society took a look at its attitude toward men and that it is time we started to eliminate this new hatred of men that is going on with modern women.

Will the punishment fit the crime?

Recently a teen-aged girl was murdered by her father. After he strangled her, he called the police and told them he had just killed his daughter. Although a trial has not been held yet and all the facts are not known, it has been reported by her friends that she had a difficult relationship with her family because she did not wish to wear her hijab. Apparently she would leave her homel dressed as her family wished and then changed before she arrived at school.

In the past in this province's politicians have actually considered seriously the possibility of allowing Muslims to use Sharia Law instead of the court system and rules that the rest of us are bound by. Thankfully, they were shouted down by right-thinking citizens who can see the possibilities of Sharia Law being used to keep Muslim women in their place and to punish them for supposed wrongs under Muslim laws. The politicians argued that it would only be used when acceptable to the accused, not realizing that these women must live with their accusers and that they would not likely dare to ask that Sharia Law not be used.

It will be interesting to watch this case and to see how our liberal court system and judges handle this case. I bet that this man will not do as much time in jail as Robert Latimer has done and will continue doing even though he killed his daughter out of love and his wish to remove her pain.

What's wrong with this picture?

It has been so interesting watching the coverage of the death of Benazir Bhutto, the grief that followed and her funeral. I have not doubt that most Pakistanis are genuinely distraught over her death and that they hoped that she might be the political answer to their problems in spite of the problems she has had as leader in the past. Perhaps corruption is more acceptable in that part of the world or perhaps we just hear more about it.

It is evident that she was welcomed enthusiastically and grieved sincerely.

Looking at the film on the television and in the papers however, I was struck by one thing. The very mosque that her funeral was held in was a place that she would not even be able to enter. The pictures there and in the streets were all men!

It's fascinating that she would be acceptable to be the head of the government and to lead the country but not to worship with men and that other women would not be able to grieve the death of a woman properly in the mosque with men.

Am I really the only one who finds this somewhat perverse in this day and age?

Robert Latimer - a tragic tale

It is unimaginable that the national parole board, the same board that allows murderers, rapists and other ne'er-do-wells to roam our streets, has turned down Robert Latimer's appeal for parole. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this case, you can read the background here.

From all accounts, Latimer was a good and devoted husband and father who had to watch his 12 year old daughter, who had the mentality of a 3 month old baby, linger in excruciating pain year after year. She was subjected to numerous painful operations by the medical community. There was no hope of improvement, just years and years of pain and there was virtually no quality of life even though critics insisted that her occasional reflexive smiles proved that she was a happy girl. In 1993 Latimer sent his wife and other children off to church, put his daughter into his truck with a hose from the exhaust and watched her go to blessed sleep.

Although I certainly do not favour mercy killings, there have been cases in Canada and other countries where they have occurred without penalty. A Canadian member of parliament was involved in such a case with a woman with Lou Gehrig's Disease and I don't recall him being charged with anything. Of course, he also stole a valuable ring and managed to get away with that too. I guess it depends on who you are and a Saskatchewan farmer doesn't make the cut.

The parole board apparently thinks that this thoughtful, caring man is a dangerous risk to society and that he will go around killing anyone who is disabled. How absurd. The man could not watch his daughter suffer any longer and and be forced to go through more painful operations at the hands of Canadian doctors.

The real problem is that he will not bend to their will; he has not been reprogrammed to think as they would like him to. He still feels that he did the right thing for his child and refuses to play their game and pretend that he is a "sorry boy" who now has the correct mindset.

I understand the fears of the disabled community that they might be fair game if mercy killings were allowed but Latimer has been punished beyond all reason. Real murderers, people who kill out of malice, are released after serving less time than this caring compassionate father. Women who have opted to kill abusive husbands instead of leaving leaving them have been punished much less than this.

Shame on the parole board. Shame on everyone who agrees with extending his punishment even further.

What on earth is going on?

How come women on TV, in commercials and programs, are permitted to slap and punch and pinch the noses of men when a man doing the same thing to a woman would cause a backlash that would make an advertiser go out of business?

How come most men in commercials are bozos while women are almost always good looking and much smarter than their men - men who seem to be only tolerated?

How come when a women on TV states that she has left or divorced her husband, the audience cheers wildly and the other women on the show usually say "Way to go girl" or something similar?

Why is it that a woman who injures or kills her child must certainly be suffering post-natal depression or some sort of a mental disturbance while a man in the same situation is a monster?

Why do female teachers who have sexual relations with children get a slap on the wrist and become folk heroes while a man doing the same is disgusting and will go to jail for many, many years?

Why do we call divorced women single moms but we don't call divorced dads single dads? Aren't they still dads?

Why are so many women having children without fathers? Don't they know that a family is important to children? Don't they care that their children will grow up with lots of psychological problems if they don't have a dad?

Why is it that a dad who does not or cannot pay his child support will have his wages garnisheed or he will go to jail but a woman who defies court orders and will not allow her children to visit with their dad suffers no penalty at all?

Why does society presume that a father can easily walk away from his children and not care that he is not allowed to be part of their lives?

Why is it that women's groups are given government support but men's groups are not?

Why are men portrayed on TV as whimpering idiots? What happened to real men?

Why are little boys expected to behave like little girls or else they will be medicated? Doesn't anyone remember that boys used to be expected to act like boys? Doesn't anyone remember people saying "Oh well, boys will be boys."?

Why is it ok for little girls to wear sexy, suggestive clothing and to act like little tiny tramps - and people think it is cute?

Why is it ok for young teen girls to flash their bodies on the web?

What on earth is going on?

Islam

I am unable to understand why we are so set on dealing with Neanderthals. Islamic people around the world are not the same as the balance of the world and we should stop pretending that they are.

Currently in Sudan a British teacher is in jail for 15 days and will be deported for allowing her students to name a teddy bear "Mohammed." That in itself is ridiculous enough but now the streets are filled with rioters who are calling for her execution!

In Saudi Arabia, a Saudi woman who was gang raped at knifepoint is facing 200 lashes. Her crime? She was in a car with an unrelated man. Their crime? Apparently nothing - she deserved it.

Whenever the subject of Islamic violence is discussed on the radio there are lots of people with middle eastern accents who call in to say that Islam is a peaceful religion that does not call for violence. Unfortunately, after that they always end up saying "But you have to understand...".

No, I do not have to understand any such thing. I believe that the Koran says that anyone who cannot be converted to Islam should be killed. Whether the Koran calls for violence or not, the people who practice Islam seem to be violent in many situations and I think it is time we stopped pretending otherwise. We are so PC that we are unable to actually state the obvious. Islam is spreading all over the world. While we are not producing children, they are. In a few years, we will be in the minority and Islamists will be making the laws.

God help us all when that happens.

Police and RCMP are big fat liars

For anyone who still trusts the police, Greg Weston's column in yesterday's Toronto Sun should be required reading. These people are apparently incapable of telling the truth under any circumstances. Please take the time to read it.

After you read it, consider how often you have heard the police say that force was necessary because "he was out of control." It is a blessing that so many cameras are around today to record them abusing so many "out of control" people. It seems that they have no negotiation skills and are far too weak to just restrain someone, even when it is four or more to one.

Personally, I have stood in the hall of a courthouse and listened to three of our "finest" discussing what lies they would be prepared to tell in the courtroom so I am under no illusions.

More violence by police!

Aren't cellphone cameras a wonderful innovation? It seems that not a day goes by that we aren't treated to the sight of police everywhere abusing their position and treating the citizens they profess to serve and protect with violence. Prior to the proliferation of cameras, that blue wall protected them from our prying eyes while they assured us that they only used force when they were attacked. Now we know better.

The sight of a confused Polish man being killed by the RCMP in Vancouver is enough to make the most jaded of us sick to our stomach. These highly trained thugs, when confronted with one, unarmed man, would no back off and try to locate someone who could communicate with him in his own language even though he had hurt no one and was obviously in distress after being at the airport (with no assistance from any airport personnel) for more than 10 hours. I think that 10 hours in that situation might make anyone want to throw around the furniture. No, within a couple of seconds of arriving they had used a taser on him not once, but twice, the second while he lay writhing on the floor. Even then they found it necessary to kneel on his body and on his head and neck --- as he lay dying. Once they realized what had happened, they all backed off and not even one tried to do any artificial respiration in order to save his life.

They will say that the taser was necessary because he was violent even though people at the scene had been able to talk to him and were completely unafraid of him. One cop was even heard to ask if he could use his taser as they entered the area. Obviously mediation and conflict resolution without violence are beyond their grasp. Shame!

In Toronto, a police officer today started to serve a sentence for beating a young tourist. At the time, the police thug said he was defending himself. Fortunately a camera proved what a liar he was and saved the young man a criminal record and time in jail which is what happens when you assault a police officer. The police offender will serve his sentence on weekends and will likely be reinstated to his job.

Another Toronto police officer was in court today for attending at a strip club against orders and (allegedly) sexually molesting a dancer and threatening her with his gun. Very nice.

In the U.S. a police officer is a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife. We don't know about his first wife but the second has come forward to assert that he beat her up during their marriage. Now we know that it is never a good idea to report this sort of thing to hubby's pals on the force and I guess she was lucky to get away with just a divorce. Wife number three was not quite so fortunate. She ended up dead in a dry bathtub with lots of bruises and injuries on her body. The blue line formed and it was decided that she took a terrible fall. Wife number four is now missing and is almost certainly dead. Serve and protect!

It used to be that when rumors circulated about police violence, most people just thought that the bad guys probably deserved it. It now seems that the tide is turning and most of the callers today and yesterday to local talk radio about the Polish tourist were in favour of the RCMP officers being charged with either murder or manslaughter.

Many police are complete bullies who have been able to hide behind their badges and their friends. They assault people on the street and in custody and lie routinely in court. It is time for people who are in a position to make changes to the system to step forward and really look at what has been going on. The people who are supposed to be "served and protected" deserve nothing less.

Tell me again, why is it we need China?

I am all for open trade among the countries of the world. I think it is a fine idea that we trade openly with the U.S. and that we are gradually getting rid of all our tariffs and duties. I am in favour of trade with England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, Sweden - almost everyone. But, can someone please tell me why we are courting trade with China?

In a past life I purchased custom merchandise from China but was forced to give it up because the Chinese merchants cannot be trusted. If they can cut a corner to save money, they will - no matter how unsafe their products are.

Recently, toys from China were found to contain unsafe levels of lead and this has probably been the case for many decades. Unfortunately, Canada and the U.S. do not employ enough people to test for this type of problem. Unfortunately also, the Chinese are not even remotely concerned about health and safety and continue to make products that are unsafe even for children. Today it was announced that toys were pulled from the shelves in Australia because they contain beads with a date-rape drug that is potent enough to kill small children. A number of children have been hospitalized because of these toys. The beads contained in a toy called Aqua Dots (Bindeez in Australia) can cause unconsciousness, seizure, drowsiness, coma and death.

Apart from this, the Chinese government regularly imprisons people for disagreeing with them or merely for being part of Falun Gong, a system of meditations, exercise and teachings that renew the mind and body. These stupid old men are so paranoid that they cannot allow any thoughts that differ from theirs.

It seems that the free world is so okay with all this that we just couldn't wait to let China have the Olympics as a reward for their bad behavior. Wouldn't it have been possible for us to tell them that they could not have the Olympics until they straightened up and flew right? Or, are we so desperate to trade with these thugs and criminals that we can overlook anything while driving all manufacturing out of our countries in order to facilitate the criminally low wages and terrible working conditions in China - including child labour.

While I am delighted that the Canadian Prime Minister sat down to meet with the Dalai Lama and that he is supposed to have spoken harshly (?) with Chinese officials about political thuggery, I wish that we, as a country, would have the balls to tell them to get lost until they behave better.

Too much to hope for, I guess.

Every child has the right to know his/her Dad

I just read the saddest story of a Dad who lost his three children when mom just up and moved away and, although the civil servants who gladly took his money, they would not let him know where his children were. He spent endless hours searching for them. Sadly, after eight years, he happened to hear an item on the TV about how his son had died years before while trying to rescue another child who was drowning. You can read about this horrible injustice at the following website: http://disenfranchisedfather.blogspot.com/

I wonder just how many men like this there are and how many children there are wondering why Daddy went away and doesn't love them anymore. I wonder about how this affects these children for the rest of their lives. Little boys growing up with a missing Dad tend to be violent and little girls tend to be loose sexually, always searching for affirmation, proof that they deserve to be loved because of the Father's love that they were denied.

My two beautiful grandchildren are among those children. Although their Daddy loves them dearly, he is forbidden by a corrupt court system and false charges from seeing them. I wonder what they think of their missing Daddy and Grandma and aunts and uncles. I am sure that they think that we don't care and nothing could be further from the truth.

My brother, now seventy, hasn't seen his daughter since she was five years old when he and his younger wife divorced. My sister-in-law was so bitter about the divorce that she would never let him see his daughter no matter how many times he went to court and no matter how many times the court insisted that he be allowed visitation.

After years on fighting and thousands upon thousands of dollars spent on legal fees, my brother finally just gave up. When I tried to talk him into continuing, he said that there would be no point by then, that his daughter wouldn't know him and wouldn't want to visit with a stranger, particularly a stranger that she would have been told was a bad man.

She doesn't know that her grandparents missed her terribly or that they bought and wrapped gifts for her every year for her birthday and Christmas in the hopes that her mother would bring her for a visit She doesn't know that her Dad is a lovely, gentle man who never harmed anyone in his life but who had a successful career in the government and later taught at a very good college. She doesn't know that she has seven cousins.

If anyone knows Carly Beth Edwards who would be 26 years old now, please let her know that we would love to have the chance to meet her and that her Dad would dearly love to have the chance to see her again.

I think that this sort of parental alienation by mothers and by the system is an abomination. I know people who think that this is a plot by the government to break down the family system. I hope that is not true.

Canada's flawed justice

Today, an Ontario man was found innocent of a terrible crime - after he spent 12 years in jail for the crime of raping and killing his 4-year-old niece, a crime that never happened. The police decided on the day the girl died that he was guilty and a medical examiner, who apparently was very inept and whose cases are all now suspect, backed them up. You may say that the system worked and that he was eventually found not guilty but will that give him back the 12 years plus that he spent in a federal prison and will that give him back the respect of his family and his neighbours? Will it replace the years in which he might have made something of himself, might have married and had children? No amount of money will atone for the wrong done to him by our justice system.

Unfortunately, he is only one of a long list of people who have been found innocent after spending long periods in jail after being wrongly convicted. Most of these have happened because of police who decide who they think is guilty and make the evidence fit. Thank goodness for the students who work on these cold cases and for the few decent lawyers who help by appealing the cases. I can't believe I just said decent and lawyers in the same sentence!

Unfortunately, I have seen this sort of thing first hand. I have stood in the hall of a courthouse and listened to police officers decide exactly what lies they would be prepared to tell to the court. I have had a relative accused falsely of crimes not committed and then had the Crown offer to drop some of the charges if my relative would plead guilty to some, knowing full well that defending all the charges would bankrupt our family. There was a time when I would have said "If there's smoke there must be fire" but now I know that the system itself is on fire and that unless you have lots and lots of money, you are powerless against it if they want you to be guilty.

The police have too much power, the Crown has too much power and there is virtually no way to defend yourself against them. The politicians, who are intended to work for us, are totally uninterested in the fact that the system is flawed and the newspapers, who claim to do investigative reporting do not care. Too bad.

Even more female police violence

It seems that every time we turn around, there are more incidents of female police violence. A while ago I wrote about one incident. Before that, we had an off duty female police officer deliberately go to her house, get her gun and kill her married lover.

Now there is a lovely video of a female police officer shooting at a man who is already subdued by a male officer and who is not struggling. I guess the only good part of the video is that she is apparently not a very good shot as the surprised male officer and the detainee both appear to be ok after the shot.

I am a female and I know that women can do almost anything they set their minds to but I wonder about the appropriateness of females in some professions.

I know that if I am in a fire, I want the biggest, strongest fire fighter to come and help me, not a woman who has her job because of political correctness. No matter how strong she is, she will not be as strong as a man in the same job.

I know that if I am every to be arrested, much as I don't care for the police, I would rather be arrested by a male police officer. It seems that woman who are given that sort of authority and who carry a gun are not always able to remove their emotions from their actions.

Take a look at the video and see what I mean. Bet nothing happens to anyone here but the man apprehended.

More police violence

American TV is today featuring video of a police officer subduing at skinny little fifteen year old girl who was guilty of breaking curfew. This big strong man was apparently not able to deal with a little girl bent over the hood of his car saying "I'm sorry sir" while he was trying to handcuff her behind her back. He was, however, able to remove one of his arms from his attempt to put her in handcuffs so he could get out his pepper spray and shoot it twice directly onto her face.

The first question should be why he would put her in handcuffs for breaking curfew - seems like overkill to me. The second should be why he would feel it necessary to use such a powerful and disgusting weapon on a young girl.

Thank goodness for dash cams and all the cameras that are around today so we can see what an incredible bunch of bullies the police are. If that man could not deal with that little girl without using a powerful weapon like pepper spray, then he ought to be dismissed from the force. Of course, that won't happen because it is normal behavior for the police in the USA and in Canada, probably everywhere in the world.

The powers that be in Florida have looked at the video and concluded that the officer acted appropriately! It seem that their view of appropriate and mine are quite different.

Violent female police

Apparently a female Toronto police officer has been charged with three counts of assault in a domestic dispute. No surprise here. Police women are natural born bullies who are prone to assault verbally and physically and who use their office to especially pick on men with whom they come into contact officially. They take delight in laying excessive charges and breaking up families. Many women who do not wish to have their husbands charged after domestic disputes, violent or verbal, are threatened by these bullies in concert with the lesbians at the Children's Aid.

Kimberly Hancock, the officer in question, is a detective with the sex crimes unit who apparently believes that might means right. You know that this must be very serious for the police to charge one of their own. Of course, no more information can be revealed because she is a member of the force and must, at all costs, be protected. Too bad the same does not apply to other citizens when these harridans decide that a person is guilty and must be punished.

Wait for this one to disappear and never be heard of again. Amazing how that happens!

Ontario voters are the pits!

I cannot believe that Ontario voters are about to return the Liberals to power next week. This completely boggles my mind!

We have a Liberal government that has lied numerous times, raised taxes when they actually signed a pledge that they would not. They claimed that they could not possibly get along without the increased taxes and then ended up with a huge surplus that they are using to buy votes.

They make claims that are outright lies. They claim that they have reduced waiting times for medical procedures. Try telling that to anyone who doesn't live in Toronto. Wait times to even hear from a surgeon's office vary from one to two years, then you get to wait for the actual appointment and then wait for the surgery. I bet Dalton's mom wouldn't have to wait that long if she needed a hip or knee replacement.

They claim that they are hiring 1700 new nurses. Where exactly are they hiring them from? I don't believe that there are enough new nurses available to replace the ones that are retiring let along adding 1700.

They have put the eyesight of Ontarioans in jeopardy be de-listing most eyesight examinations. There will be a terrible price to pay when people start to lose their eyesight due to the various problems that could have been detected early with an examination.

They will not cover an ever-increasing number of prescription medications including one which might bring relief to the many thousands suffering from Fibromyalgia, a debilitating condition that ruins people's lives.

But, let the Conservative leader suggest that it might be time for fairness in funding faith-based schools as six other provinces/territories have already done and people are fleeing like scared lemmings. They are, apparently, unable to understand that this would be a good thing that would ensure that every child is taught the approved Ontario curriculum by approved teachers and would ensure that inspections and regular testing would be carried out.

If you vote Liberal, you will surely deserve the government you will get. God help the rest of us.

Violence against women?

We hear so much from the media about male on female violence and certainly it is to be despised, as is any violence. We hear about safe houses for women and children and how important they are. We hear about how it is never, never acceptable for a man to be violent with women.

I agree.

How is it then that we see so much in the media that features female on male violence and that is okay? How many commercials are on the television right now that have females punching, kicking and otherwise abusing men? Certainly more than I care to see. These commercials foster a feeling among women that they can actually beat on men and not get hurt, unless, of course, they are beating on one of the new breed of she-males that are so prevalent in the cities. I know it is not the popular thing to say but generally women are not as strong as men and it would be really stupid for almost any woman to pick a physical fight with a man and hope to win.

In TV programs and movies, women are always beating up men. Again, unless you are a female superhero, it isn't going to happen.

Most importantly, however, why is is okay to portray women beating up men when the reverse would never be acceptable? The hue and cry that would arise from the women's movement and the left wingers would surely deafen us all!

The vaccination/autism connection.

For those of you who cannot watch the Oprah show, today's show was really important. Jenny McCarthy and Holly Robinson Peete guested to talk about their sons who suffer from autism. It was interesting to hear Jenny talk about how she had brought her son back from autism by means of diet and activities designed to stimulate. She and Holly discussed how important it is to attack this disorder as quickly as possible after diagnosis. Unfortunately, they also discussed how difficult it is to get a good diagnosis and about how doctors do not know (or seem to care) about potential treatments.

It was even more important to hear Jenny McCarthy say out loud that she believes that vaccinations are directly implicated in the absolutely incredible rise in the rate of autism. Certainly, if you look historically at when autism began its meteoric rise, you will see that it parallels the rate of early and multi-vaccinations. The health system keeps adding more and more to the vaccination given to babies before their immune systems have even developed and insisting that is is completely safe even when the evidence is staring them in the face.

It was amazing to hear the statement from the CDC state that they are actually looking at this "potential" connection for the first time. I guess having to give a statement to the almighty Oprah Show puts you in an uncomfortable situation. This connection to vaccinations has been made on the Oprah Show before by another few parents of children with autism but Oprah seemed astounded at the possibility. Of course, when it was made before, her own special expert said that there was no connection - oops, how embarrassing! On that show, some of the parents were almost in tears at the end of the show after being made to look irrelevant and uneducated.

Jenny McCarthy has written a book about her experiences and information about autism. Just Google her for lots of info about it.

My first grandchild, a beautiful, wonderfully healthy baby girl, died only hours after receiving her vaccination. I have no doubt that we are endangering our children with these early and heavily laden vaccinations. I truly hope that our health people are looking seriously at this subject so that no more children are sacrificed in the name of "science."

Is this really news?

I'll out myself before I even start to complain. It may be that I am a little crankier than usual. I am detoxing from a medication that I cannot afford and that the Ontario government will not cover.

That being said, however, is it really news that one child, in the entire United States caught his Kroc in an escalator and hurt his toe? Oh wait, one child in Singapore also caught her toe while wearing Krocs. Good god, call out the Marines. Out of all the children in the U.S. and Singapore, two caught their toes while wearing Krocs! It's a national emergency and certainly deserving of wall-to-wall, on-going news coverage on every American and Canadian news station. For sure!

Now I am sorry that these two little dears hurt their little piggies but now I am also feeling sorry for all the kids who stubbed their toes running this summer while wearing sandals. And what about the kids who fell off their bikes? And what about the kids who are damaging themselves daily on their skateboards?

So many kids, so little bubble wrap.

Citizens of Ontario, get a grip!!

The latest poll shows that, although you like John Tory better, you are still planning to vote Liberal, at least in numbers high enough to give Dalton McGinty a majority. Are you crazy? Let me tell you some reasons why you should not even consider voting for him.

1. Remember when he promised, and signed a pledge that, if elected, he would not increase taxes? Less than a year later in brought in the biggest tax increase in the history of Ontario.

2. Remember when he said that the Conservatives had left a huge deficit? Actually, it was only half way through the year and the Conservatives said that they would have a balanced budget by the end of the year. Apparently, it was the Liberals doing the lying here as suddenly the Libs found themselves with not only a balanced budget, but a HUGE surplus which they are now using to buy your stupid little votes.

3) Just a while ago, the Libs started giving away your money to all and sundry that could bring them votes. No lining up and filling out forms justifying your cash needs here, just make a phone call and a cheque would be delivered the very next day!

Have any among you had to go to the time and trouble to get a building permit or a passport lately? Form upon form, information by the bucket load, and then wait and wait and wait. If, however, you want $100,000 for your cricket club (cricket club, are you kidding me?) then just make a call and a cheque for $1,000,000 (6 zeros) will be delivered the very next day. Since you don't really have any use for a million dollars, you can just put the rest into your savings account for a really rainy day. This was only one of many gratuitous and undocumented hand-outs given to people who might be able to bring votes to the Libs.

Yes, yes, the minister in charge did resign but watch carefully and you will see him miraculously reappear on some prestigious paid-by-the-day inquiry or the like. As Brian Mulroney said, there's no whore like and old whore and these guys never go away, they just move around from committee to committee, disgraced but still at the trough and apparently unable to earn a living in the real world.

4) During the last election campaign, Dalton promised the mother of a child with autism that he would finance the care of autistic children over six years old. He actually spent $2,400,000 in court fighting parents desperate for help.

5) He and his minions are going around saying that they have improved our medical care and, in particular, shortened wait times for knee and hip surgery. Don't believe it for a minute. First of all, most of us who don't live in Toronto or who aren't MPP's cannot even get a doctor. If you are lucky enough to even be referred to a surgeon for knee or hip surgery, you will not likely hear from the surgeon's office to set an appointment for longer than a year. After that, you will have to wait for the appointment and then wait for the surgery. The only wait time, out of the long, protracted wait, that Dalton considers is the last little bit - from surgeon to surgery. All the rest doesn't count. You see, the wait times haven't been shortened, just shifted.

6) If you are unlucky enough to be a senior citizen, keep your head down so you do not get in the way of the prescription de-listings. The Libs aren't interested in paying for anything that is not cheap, even though it may be the only thing that works for you.

7) In newest liberal television ads we see a smirking Dalton saying that to him Ontario means public schools which is odd because he always told us before that to him Ontario meant health care. It's especially odd since he was educated in a catholic school, his children are being educated in catholic schools and his wife teaches at a catholic school. Greg Sorbara's five (I believe) children all go to private schools. So much for the value of public schools!

Now, let's address the matter of John Tory stating that he will fund private and religious schools if elected.

1) These schools will only be funded if they teach the Ontario curriculum and meet Ontario standards.

2) The teachers would have to meet provincial standards.

3) These schools will be required to teach evolution in science class and would be allowed to teach creationism during religious classes ONLY.

4) These schools would have to be open for inspection just as public schools are and we would have control over what is being taught unlike what is happening now.

5) In the scheme of things, the dollar amounts are miniscule and could probably all come out of the budget of the Toronto School Board (my thought).

Please do not just vote as you have always voted. Do some research and consider if you wish to re-elect a man who has consistently lied to you.

The feminization of the western world

It's really a shame that we have allowed liberals and soccer moms to take over the western world. In our schools we dumb down the curriculum so that nobody will feel badly about not being as smart as everyone else. We ensure that nobody fails a class in case they might feel that others are better than they are. In sports, we give everyone a trophy so that everyone feels that they have succeeded. If one team is too good, we penalize them. All in the name of being "nice."

It's really a shame, because what we have allowed these women and liberals to do is to ruin us as a society. Our society used to believe in survival of the fittest and for good reason. It is imperative that we, as a society, strive collectively and individually to be our best.

Animals know this instinctively and males strive to be the leader of the herd or pack. Females instinctively pick the best and strongest males to breed with in order to give birth to the strongest and best babies. They will also abandon the weakest babies in order to improve the herd or pack. Humans, being at the top of the pecking order, do not have to go this far. We can look after the weakest among us while still encouraging intelligence, strength and excellence.

The result of this feminization of society is the dreadful situation we find ourselves in now. Young people are leaving high school or college unable to put together a lucid sentence let alone a paragraph. Sports have been played down in our schools and, in many cases, banned for fear that someone might either be hurt or disappointed. In the U.S. there is serious consideration given to teaching black students in the ridiculous argot that they have taken to using, rather than encouraging them to use proper English so they can succeed in the world. Yes, the result is an entire generation of people who are undereducated, fat and afraid of confrontation.

We are in a frightening situation right now with Islam attempting to destroy us either by killing us or by out-breeding us and we are afraid to fight back either verbally, for fear of hurting someone's feelings or by fighting back literally. I heard two interesting things this weekend. One, and I apologize that I cannot remember the source, said conservatives hate war, liberals fear it.
The other was Michael Scheuer, former CIA agent and author of several books about Islam, terror and why we are losing the war. When asked if we can win in Afghanistan, pointed out that we pull 10 year old girls off the field if their team is too far ahead to give the other team a chance.

There is little chance of us succeeding in this war with Islam as we have lost our survival of the fittest instinct and given in to the liberals and soccer moms.

Dads are not disposible!

How did we get to the point that women thought it would be ok to deny the father of her children access to their children? It is so common now for this to happen and I cannot figure out when we decided that men are a disposable commodity, not necessary in the life of a child.

My father wasn't perfect but he was a good man. He came home from five years at war with a serious medical problem and a serious drinking problem like so many other men of that time. Later on, men came home from wars with drug problems. In spite of his illnesses, he was a good guy. I have wonderful memories of him cooking breakfast on Sunday mornings or making spaghetti sauce or soup. We loved playing board games and card games and on the weekends many of our friends would come over and play poker with us. When my sister and I were older and had kids, he rented a cottage so that we could all have a special holiday together. I doubt that the kids remember, but I do.

My mom was the very best and I have no doubt that we would have managed pretty well if my dad wasn't in the picture but it certainly wouldn't have been the same and I wouldn't be the same person that I am.

My big regret is that I didn't let my dad know how much I loved him and how much I respected him for all the things he did and all the things he tried to do for us before he was gone.

Women now have dad thrown out of the house, deny him access to the kids and then, if he puts up a fuss, they lie about abuse or have him charged with rape.

Those kids need their dad. They will spend their growing years missing him and thinking that he doesn't love them. Those feelings will affect them for their entire life. Their sons will go through life feeling inadequate about everything and their daughters will spend their lives looking for affirmation about themselves from men.

Moms and dads are important to the development of a child. For heavens sake, unless dad is an ax murderer, work through counseling or whatever is required to keep him in your children's lives.

Dads are not disposable!

So many questions!

A 16 year old, openly-gay, boy goes to school wearing a shirt that says "Every time you see a rainbow, God is having gay sex." People object and he is told he cannot wear that shirt to school. He then claims that his rights are being violated.

What have we come to that anyone thinks this sort of expression is acceptable? What would happen if he substituted Allah for God? Did his parents know that he had a shirt with something so vulgar on it? If they knew, they must have thought that this was acceptable for their son to wear. How is that possible?

Have we reached the point where there are no standards at all? Must we accept anything that anyone wants to say or do?

How did this happen?

So many questions.

The Real Police!

A big pat on the back to an American kid who had the presence of mind to instill a dash cam in his car. Anyone who has been unfortunate enough to have had any dealings with police will know that this is entirely typical behavior. If the police feel like it, they will charge you with any number of false charges. If you can afford the exorbitant cost of a lawyer, you can do your best to fight them in court but they have the advantage because the courts believe (or pretend to believe the police). If you can't afford it, the crown, knowing that the charges are bogus, will offer you a deal and let you choose a couple of charges that you can plead guilty to. It is generally a no-win situation for you.

Again congrats to the kid who recorded the incident. Watch it and if you have ever said "Well he was charged so there must be something to it, the Police don't go around laying false charges", think again, it happens all the time.

September 11, 2007

It is six years since the awful tragedy in New York when enemies of the west flew planes into three buildings and would have flown another into the White House but for the brave men on board. I have been watching some of the ceremonies and even six years later, I still tear up.

Since I am Canadian and live in Canada, I hear all the naysayers on the talk radio shows saying all kinds of things negative about the US and their President. I also hear all the conspiracy theorists saying that Bush and Cheney and their pals are the ones who planned the whole thing. I am not sure how you convince four pilots to give up their life and the lives of all the passengers for that plan.

What I do know for sure is that followers of Islam committed a terrific crime that day and that they are among us just waiting until they can commit another. They are in England, Germany, the Philippines, the U.S., Canada, and many other countries waiting and planning. As I have said before, Muslims can say that their beliefs are peaceful but, until this madness stops, we cannot believe what they say.

My thoughts today are with the families of the people on the planes, in the buildings and the rescuers. Also with all the people who have been permanently damaged by being in the area when destructive materials were falling and the rescuers who spent months in dangerous debris. They will have to face the destructiveness of 9/11 later on.

I am proud to live beside a great country like the United States. No country has helped others around the world as much as they have - in money to re-build when required, emergency supplies and workers, and in the lives of their military. God Bless America!

Oprah backs Obama

I admit it, I watch Oprah. For the most part it is an ok time waster although I have been known to tune out on occasion - especially when she gets into some of her "Men are monsters, or idiots or something to be rid of" shows. This happens most often when she has her friend the psychiatrist on. The doctor seems to have a real hate on for men in general, maybe because her marriage didn't turn out too well.

I am ok with the fact that Oprah favours black guests and often positively gushes over them I am ok that her garden party has only a couple of token white women. That is her prerogative. I am not so ok with her gushing support of Obama in his run for the presidency.

It is a fact that blacks were treated badly in the past and probably are treated badly in some places even now, so supporting your own is a good thing. Some of her guests have been well-known black men who have started schools and sporting events in order to help black kids get ahead. Oprah has herself started a school in Africa to assist young black girls prosper, although she might want to think about starting one in the USA. There are some areas that could benefit greatly from it.

So I get the supporting your own idea, I really do! I wonder, however, about supporting the first black man to run for president so overtly that you not only give your verbal support, but you throw political parties and show up at special events for him. When Oprah started supporting him, he had just thrown his hat in the ring and nobody really knew what he stood for but even then she was all about Obama.

I approve of helping your own to get ahead and I am sure the thought of a black President is appealing to Oprah and to most African-Americans but I wonder if that is a good enough reason for someone with the clout of Oprah to back him so strongly. He is very young, with little political experience and without any experience in leadership. He seems weak on foreign policy and I sure wouldn't want to see him have to go up against some of the really strong leaders in the world.

I find it disturbing that to many people the colour of his skin makes him a viable candidate for the most important job in the world. Surely there are more important attributes.

The Bonnie View of Commercials

I actually like commercials. I know they are necessary if we are to get the programming we want and I very often enjoy them. Commercials from years ago stay with me and occasionally we talk about old commercials and wonder about the people that acted in them, especially the kids. I would love to see some of the commercials come back using the same people all grown up.

I am, however, amazed at the number of really bad commercials on TY. There are commercials with grammar so terrible that you can tell they are done by the new, young ad house stars, young people who think they are all that and a bag of chips. Unfortunately, education now doesn't equip students with good grammar or the ability to spell. Witness the number of people on TV who say "Me and my friend went to a show" or other equally bad statements. I am surprised that these commercials, which are vetted by lots of people at the ad house and the advertiser, make it to air. I suppose advertisers are trying to be modern and to relate to the younger generation.

I am not surprised by the number of commercials that make men look bad, especially white, middle-aged men. They and Scots seem to be considered fair game for advertisers to show in a bad light, either evil or stupid or irrelevant. Considering how men are treated in the real world, I guess this was to be expected.

THE CAPITAL ONE CARD. All the bad men in the commercial are shown as vermin, things to be despised. Of course all the vermin are white, middle-aged men. Considering how hard the banks have tried to integrate women and minorities, I would think they would be insulted by these commercials. Not only are they vermin, they are bigots and racists!

FORD MUSTANG. A man spies a Ford Mustang and decides to run and jump into the car. Of course being a dopey, incapable man, he lands on the door frame injuring his private parts. Why on earth would Ford think that injuring a man's most precious commodity would make him find their car appealing?

NABOB COFFEE. This is a whole series of commercials, all equally disgusting. In one a man pours his coffee, trips and throws it on a hanging rug. He wrings it out of the rug and drinks it. This is so repellent that I change the station when I see it coming. Yuck!!!

FEBREEZE SCENTED CANDLES. This one features a woman and a man - well sort of a man. The woman is enjoying the scent while the girly man is trying to make a move on her. Are there no real men available for commercials? Nobody could make me believe that this man would be even vaguely interested in that woman or any other woman.

DC WAFFLE CUP. Nice series of commercials, cute and suggestive but quite innocent. Perfect casting with just the right contrasting of sweet and sexy.

HOME DEPOT. They ran a whole series of commercials with families consisting of Mom and kids. The message was that a man wasn't necessary to do repairs or upgrades. Being a divorced woman with kids I know that often this is true but equally often I needed help from men to get the job done. The big problem is the message that is being presented everywhere that Dads are not necessary and the current abysmal behavior of kids belies this premise.

I notice that Home Depot has recently run a commercial featuring a man who is apparently capable of being taught how to do things. My guess is that they got lots of complaints about the women-only commercials.

To all three of my grandchildren

What a wonderful weekend. Lots of family, friends and kids. My dogs thought they had gone to heaven with all those kids to play with. The best kid of all was my little 18 month old grandson Jack. What a cutie and the best natured child you could wish for. He is certainly the boss of his family and has his parents jumping to his every whim.

The only bad thing about the weekend was that my other two grandchildren couldn't be there. Thanks to female police, lawyers, judges and children's service workers, it has been decreed that nobody in our family should be allowed to see them or even send them a birthday card. Unfortunately, most of these women are lesbians who don't like men and don't consider them important in the life of a child.

It is pretty sad that dads are considered disposable and not necessary to children. I cannot imagine the permanent psychological harm that is being done to my grandchildren by making them believe that their father has walked away from them and doesn't care about them and that all their other relatives on his side of the family couldn't care less about them.

All sorts of research has been done that shows how children are harmed by a missing parent and how it affects their entire life. It makes them angry adults with poor self-esteem. The fact is, most female police and child care workers are lesbians and they do not like men and consider them unnecessary.

Unfortunately, I am not young and may not be around long enough to meet my grandchildren when they are old enough to decide for themselves. I hope that someday they will know that I loved them and missed them terribly.

Down with political correctness!

Have you ever been in a store when an unruly, rude child is told by his mom that "It hurts my feelings when you talk like that"? Don't you just want to tell her to discipline her child and stop being such a wimp? I think we have become a nation of wimps, so afraid to hurt someone's feelings that we cannot express our thoughts clearly anymore.

I listened to a bunch of TV talk shows on the weekend and everyone kept talking about radical Muslims being the cause many of our problems. Nobody wants to come our and say that Islam is the cause of these problems. Islam is to my knowledge the only religion that directs people to convert people to their religion or to kill them. Now that's radical!

People keep saying that most Muslims are fine upstanding people and that is quite likely the case but if you listen to radio talk shows on the subject of Islamic violence, it is astounding the number of times a middle eastern person will call in and say that Islam is a religion of peace and that the people who are killing in the name of Islam are wrong and misguided and then go on to say "But you have to understand ......".

Actually I don't have to understand any reason why people go around with bombs strapped to them and kill innocent people. I don't have to understand why they make bombs of glass and nails in order to do the most violence to humans. I don't have to understand any of that. It appears to me that Islam is a religion of violence - not of peace.

There is a bigger threat to our way of life however than the bombs. Muslims have moved from the middle east to almost every country around the world. Most of those countries have experienced a serious drop in birth rate as many people are deciding not to have children or are limiting themselves to one or two maximum. Muslims, on the other hand, are having large families wherever they live. In most countries, they will soon be a significant proportion of the population. As that happens, they will run for office and, because of voting blocs, they will win. When that happens, watch for law changes that support the Islamic faith and which will be very different from our mostly Judaio-Christian laws.

Where I live, we have already had Muslims demand the right to use Sharia law. It was frightening to see our left wingers considering this seriously and suggesting that it could be a good idea. Only an outcry from the rest of this prohibited it from becoming a reality. Watch for it folks, it's coming.

Sorry I couldn't be more politically correct.

Maybe we still need men after all .....

On my drive home last night I was listening to Coast to Coast, which many of you may be familiar with. The guest was a scientist whose name and specialty I didn't hear because I came in late but he was discussing astrological things like comets and black holes and the like. Many of the callers were astounding knowledgeable about the subject and asked questions of the expert that were very in depth and intelligent - at least they sounded like that to me. And, in fact, the guest kept saying things like "That is a very good question," so I guess the callers were pretty smart.

Nothing about the fate of the universe was resolved during the discussions but it was all very interesting. The most interesting thing to me, however, was that every single caller was male.

When I arrived at home, I got my dish of ice cream and sat down to watch the World Poker Tour. Not as weighty as the sky stuff but some pretty intelligent people playing for some very amazing amounts of cash. Students from Yale, former owners of cosmetic companies and the like. Couldn't stay awake long enough to see who actually won but I can tell you for sure that it was a man.

There are only a handful of women in the professional poker world and for the most part an eccentric bunch. Not that I'm complaining about that - I love eccentric people.

Again, the most interesting part of the WPT game - all men.

It seems that the social engineering people have not been able to change everything in our world and that maybe there still are differences between men and women.

God I hope so!

Where the heck is Bonnie and why would I care what she thinks?

For anyone who cares, I am in Canada. I live near a beautiful lake and am surrounded by trees and birds.

Nancy Grace

Just how desperate for publicity or attention do you have to be to appear as a so-called expert on the Nancy Grace show. I am embarrassed to admit that I watched tonight but it is re-run time and the pickings are slim.

What an incredible wretch this woman is. You can tell she is a former prosecutor, she rushes to judgement and then proceeds from there. If anyone tries to make a point that suggests something different, she cuts them off and talks over anything they have to say. She then has the chutzpah to ask why a man who says he is innocent would need a lawyer. Incredible!

She certainly does not approve of men in general and seems to be sure that every man has, wants to, or will at some time murder his wife. Her dislike for men is palpable. Of course, she has taken a run a women in the past as well as evidenced by the lawsuit against her at present for wrongful death in the case of a woman whose child disappeared.

I understand she has recently married and is expecting twins. God help him when she grows tired of him.

The "Justice System" Strikes Again

Congratulations to Steven Truscott on his acquittal, although he should have been found innocent. I was a teenager when he was convicted and I knew even then that he was innocent. The police, in their usual rush to conviction, decided he was guilty and worked to prove their theory. They completely ignored the evidence that a known sex offender was in the area that day and only focused on Truscott. They coerced young people and twisted the system to fit their needs. The crown, as usual backed them up and fought tooth and nail for years to keep justice from prevailing merely to protect themselves . Later, when people started to come to his defence, the evidence miraculously had disappeared. Imagine that!

I do not believe we have a real justice system in this country - only a court system. Pray that you never really need justice as it is hard to come by in our police system and in our courts.

Who the heck is Bonnie and why do I care about her view!

Hello, I'm Bonnie. I'm not as young as I used to be, or as thin as I used to be, or as smart as I used to be - but I'm pretty much happy with myself. I am recently retired and have had lots of time to reflect on my world in particular and the world in general and I'm a little confused about what I see. I'm old enough to be able to say "Things aren't the way they used to be!" I guess they shouldn't be the way they used to be but ideally they should be better. I'd like to use this space to reflect on what I see that is odd, confusing or just plain wrong.

I watch a fair bit of daytime TV and it is fascinating to see all the man hating that is going on. If someone says I just got divorced, everyone cheers and says "Way to go girl!" As a long divorced person, I don't understand that reaction. Divorce is sometimes necessary but it is always destructive and painful to all concerned - especially the children. I don't think it is something to celebrate.

Every talk show seems to vilify men for everything. Women are seen as the victims of everything. I don't personally understand that. For the most part, you can only be a victim if you let yourself be one.

My marriage wasn't perfect and some regretful stuff went on but when it got to the part that it was destructive, I called it off. I shared a lawyer with my husband to cut costs and we worked out what each would take away from the marriage and the amount of child support that would be required to give our three children a decent life. Visitation was spelled out in our agreement but my ex had complete access to the kids whenever he was able to see them. He is their father and keeping him away would be destructive to them so that was never an option for me. The fact that he didn't choose to use much visitation is another story.

Now women, the courts, the police and children's services seem intent on keeping dads away from their kids at all costs. Dad has become a monster who must be avoided. None of these people are giving much consideration to the fact that a missing dad has a devastating effect on children and that they will be damaged throughout their whole life.

When a father harms or kills his kids, he is seen to be a monster but when a mother does the same then surely she must be ill. Why is it that nobody ever considers that the father may be ill. Near where I live, a mother recently murdered her two children. The Father had been going through the courts to get visitation or custody as the mother was not seen as responsible. When she killed her children, a neighbour was quoted as saying, "That poor woman needs a hug."

I don't think I have ever heard anyone say that about a man who does something that vile.

Men are now not seen to be necessary for anything at all. In almost every TV commercial, dad is either missing or stupid. Home Depot ran a full series of commercials that featured only women and kids and the basic message was "Who needs him." In other commercials, dad is a squealing ninny who is freaked out be a frog or he is being out-thought be a clever child. Very seldom do we see an intelligent, caring father.

I plan to run a series of commercial critiques - not that anyone cares what I think - but I think it would be fun to do it. Stay tuned

Police stupidity
